Sensor Components

Your Partner for Hard-to-find Sensors

Sensors consist of a ‘sensing element’ and some kind of ‘signal processing’.  They are used in applications such as Hall Effect, accelerometers, and gyroscopes.  We offer angular and linear position sensors, proximity sensors, RF sensors, force sensors, temperature, pressure, ultrasonic, smoke, gas, alcohol, and humidity sensors for indoor and outdoor use, plus a wide variety of color, photoelectric, and ambient light sensors.

VRG Components® can source any electronic parts that are hard to find – in short supply (allocations), end-of-life, or have long lead times – especially sensors.  We do this by leveraging our extensive network of carefully vetted, reliable suppliers to provide the right components to meet your needs.

Our goal is to supply hard-to-find, high-quality electronic components to maximize our customer’s production processes.  With the ability to source components from more than 500 leading manufacturers, we can secure the sensors required for your project.

Sensor Applications

Although there are hundreds of sensor applications they tend to fall into four main categories:

  • Motion and Position Sensors are used to measure position.  New media formats such as AR (augmented reality) require accurate motion detection of the user’s head and hands using interconnected MEMS motion sensors.
  • Optical Sensors convert light into an electronic signal that can be read by an instrument.
  • Thermal Sensors react to temperature or a change in temperature.  They are used in medical devices, automobiles, HVAC systems, and more.
  • Pressure Sensors usually measure the pressure of gas, liquids, or air.  These are used in a variety of applications ranging from automotive airbags to ventilators.

Sensors are used in the automotive industry for driver assistance capabilities and the consumer electronics industry for smartphones, wearables, and fitness devices.  They are widely used in IoT applications, automated control systems, and machine learning applications.  The industrial market uses sensors for factory automation, logistics, and medical equipment.  As connectivity services increase there will be more smart home (environmental monitoring) and smart industry (predictive maintenance) sensor applications.
